Jude Crouch was a
telecommunications and IT specialist who lived in suburban
Chicago. He had a way with people, and his kind and insightful
posts could quietly give reassurance to newbies, or calm a flame
war with a single post. You can read how he single-handedly saved
our newsgroup under the History
link on this site. Jude's last posts and private e-mails to
members of this newsgroup described some "problems" which he
needed time to work through. We knew he had some problems at home.
We didn't know that he was also fighting cancer, which would
eventually claim his life in November, 2002.
The very existence of alt.support.diabetes is a
lasting tribute to his hard work and compassion for his fellow
diabetics. Those of us who had the honor of knowing Jude were
enriched by his kindness, his passionate activism, and his careful
and reasoned advice. He is profoundly missed.
